this is messy and random but: he's a "jock", though sports isn't his life. he does it because he likes it, not for any superficial status or social hierarchy. he cares about school bc it's kinda all he's had and has, especially as a major distractor from his past and recurring.when he was 12, he was at a sleepover with his friend when the family was targeted and slaughtered. he hid and heard and watched the whole thing through shuttered doors of a closet, witnessing the death of his friend. he has Extreme survivor's guilt and lowkey Hates himself a lot for hiding and not doing anything, but wtf could he have done, he was a kid. for a few months, he was in the news spotlight as the sole survivor and witness ( his identity was originally kept anonymous until news sources leaked his name ), which resulted in some cruel jokes about his name because it's "Hyde", and he hid. other kids would be like "omg it's the Hyder", "he stayed Hydden" and making a bunch of puns with his name.declan goes by "hyde", officially. his own way of trying to reduce the effects of the jokes, and he rarely goes by declan unless it's his parents, authorities, or extremely extremely close friends.exteriorly, he's a calm dude, always trying to handle things logically and soundly, trying not to let his emotions get in the way of his life.
MAIN ( COLLEGE ) he's in college on a D1 football scholarship, in a general major trying to figure out exactly what he wants to do in life while trying to heal and recover from extremely traumatic events in his adolescence. he somehow finds himself getting roped into bad situation after bad situation, and he later finds himself trying to investigate the events surrounding the murders of his friend and his family. this can fit into any modern universeHIGH SCHOOL he's in high school, your average down to earth jock who seems to be friends with everyone. super duper friendly, but also extremely reserved in that he's cautious with who he lets into his life. he works at the local bookstore in town where he spends way too much time organizing shelves and setting up the browsing tables. he's attending therapy, group, and just overall trying to get a handle on his recurring nightmares and survivor's guilt. this can fit into any modern universe
STRANGER THINGS story is the same as his main verse, except he's born and raised in hawkins. unbeknownst to him, his friend's family was involved with the experiments years prior that resulted in them being assassinated — disguised as a amateurish robbery gone wrong. declan was not supposed to be there. the kids still teased him, but as he grew older and one of the more prominent athletes, the rumors died down. for the most part. very kind and outgoing, won't make fun of anyone, speaks up for things he believes are wrong etc. same age group as nancy, steve, etc.
in terms of season 4 part 1, declan gets roped into the vecna ordeal just bc one, he and his friends are natural sleuthers, and two, his best friend becomes a target.TEEN WOLF. follows his main, but he goes to beacon hills high school.
DEADLY CLASS. a rat. somehow it was assumed he was the one who killed his friend and his family.
GRISHAVERSE. zemeni, probs human.FEAR STREET 1978. shadysider, camp counselor. same as main, witnessed friend's family die in front of him.
FEAR STREET 1994. shadysider, goes to shadyside hs. follows the same as his main, but the family he witnessed that was killed was by a victim under the curse.
